NORMAN, Okla. - Verizon Wireless, proud supporter of Toby Keith’s Oklahoma Twister Relief Concert, announced today its plan to offer text-to-donate capabilities before, during and after the benefit concert on July 6 at the Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.

Beginning today, customers of any wireless carrier may donate by texting the keyword REBUILD to 52000, which will give an automatic $10 donation to the United Way of Central Oklahoma’s May Tornadoes Relief Fund. Verizon Wireless customers will be limited to five text donations.

“As a proud supporter of Toby Keith’s Oklahoma Twister Relief Concert, Verizon Wireless believes in putting technology and communication to good use that will last well beyond this recovery effort,” said Dean Taylor, president for the South Central Region of Verizon Wireless. “A text-to-donate program makes the most sense. And, we are hopeful that providing this service will result in significantly more aid for the people who need it most.”

Tickets for the benefit concert went on sale Friday, June 21 and have sold out. Artists to perform include Toby Keith, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Willie Nelson, Ronnie Dunn, Sammy Hagar, Mel Tillis and John Anderson, all donating their time to support the state of Oklahoma.
